Allow me to provide counterpoints.

1: Non political players typically outnumber the political ones, and don't join nations precisely because they want to be left alone to their own autism. Letting political players have free reign to do whatever they want against non political players is unfair, and is a case of the nation players forcing their special snowflake status down everyone's throat. A better idea would be for people in nations to not receive any protection or help from moderators, as they will have the nation to rely on for help (plus often people complain about mod intervention in conflicts between nations, and this would satisfy those gripes).

2: This is incorrect - you can simply look at the current map and see how many overworld and nether rails have been constructed despite the home system. Even on the 1.7 map where there was a server wide system of warp signs there were still overworld transport links (ie canals and rails). As for trading, people don't want to spend shitloads of time trading resources, so limiting the usage of homes would likely slow down trading times and discourage trade in general. If you want to have 'realistic' trading, then force all the members of your nation and those who trade with you to do it and don't inconvenience everyone.

3: People part of nations should be fair game for everything, while everybody unaffiliated are still given mod protection. If I recall correctly this has been tried a few times, but the special snowflake nation players inevitably bitch and moan when they get griebed (because nobody likes it when their sandcastle is kicked over).

I'm also going to guess that you would like to see jailing people take place more often than banning. Well that also has been tried and failed (on the oceania map), because people would abuse it in a variety of ways. — tangaloa 2016/03/12 05:54
